My scientific interests can be broadly described as the impacts of clouds on climate and ultimately on the society.

I use climate models (in particular ECHAM-HAM) to answer questions about cirrus clouds, their micro- and macrophysical properties, radiative and climatic effects. I also explored the feasibility of cirrus cloud modifications (a.k.a. cirrus seeding or cirrus thinning) to counteract part of the global warming. Soon I will start a new project in which I will focus on tropical clouds, in particular anvil clouds, their description in climate models, and their cloud radiative effects.
